The Leigh Sakoda Foundation celebrated Father’s Day by making a very important grant to a 28 year old woman who was diagnosed with Chordoma-Clivus (an extremely rare bone cancer of the spine). She lived at home with her 5-year old daughter, as well has her mother who is also disabled. She has had to undergo several surgeries, and now must travel 3 hours away to receive a daily radiation therapy. The additional cost of traveling back and forth is not covered by insurance, and in addition to mounting medical expenses, her family has had to scale back work in order to tend to the needs of the family. This grant will help pay for short-term housing, as well as the additional premiums for COBRA coverage.
